I've been watching Gretel and Nali for days now, wondering if either of them were going to get around to freshening. This morning, Gretel's decided it was time to bag up and get it over with already. She was very skittish all morning. At 11:30, she lost her plug and we moved into the barn to wait it out. She finally started pushing about 12:10 and by 12:30 or so, she had given birth to two beautiful doelings.
One of them is TINY, but both are up on their feet and healthy. Interesting, Gretel is the first goat I've had that wanted to give birth standing up. When the first one was coming out, she fell over so she had it laying down. But while she was standing cleaning it, the second tiny one just came dropping down to the ground without any major contractions.
Now I think I'm going to pour myself a nice glass of scotch and rest for a bit, . Then I'll have a nice shower. Three down, one to go, six kids on the ground. Five, count 'em FIVE doelings and one buckling. Triumph is one hell of a great sire. With these numbers, I may have to use him again next year on Lulu and Candy.
Come on Nali. Let's get this show on the road.
