I walked out the back door today and Spring promptly slapped me across the face.
"WAKE UP KITTY!!! I've been knocking on your door for a while, but you never noticed!"
So I spent an hour or two in my side yard with my camera. Except for the pictures of the animals, all other pictures were taken within about 20 feet of each other.
One of the things I'm really proud of is my Constructed Wetlands, aka The Bog Gardens. I love the variety of shapes and colors all packed neatly into a small package. And my bees love them too! There are a few favorite "watering holes" that I've affectionately given names to.
The Red Leaf is by far the most popular spot to stop while cruising along the strip. The water here is guaranteed to be fresh and cool. It has a wonderful awning that is great for lounging under while sipping something cool and refreshing.
Across the street, you'll find The Spiral. The neighborhood over here is a bit dicey, but once all the twists and turns are navigated successfully, it turns out to be quite a fine establishment. Patronage used to be mostly limited to a few locals, but the word got out somehow and now it's the hip place to be.
The Fountain Court is great if one prefers full sun, tanning, and playing in the surf. The cool water here flows smooth, steady, and sweet. After someone tests the water the call usually goes out. "Come on in girls, the water's fine!" This joint doesn't discriminate either. The Hummers play daily, morning, noon, and night. They must have seen the Cirque de Soleil show ‘0’ because they put on quite a show which includes such things as singing, aerial acrobatics, and water ballet.
Of course with all this action concentrated in such a small neighborhood, it’s bound to attract a few unsavory characters. Luckily the big burly guy in the fur coat usually just watches from the street corner. It's sort of creepy actually. But as long as he stays in his place, all weapons remain concealed.
With so many tasty establishments popping open along the strip each day, the food choices are almost endless. Thanks to organized community development this place is buzzing with activity! Heck, they've even got publicity photo's posted online! Seriously! Check it out:
